For many people, spending one day in Petra is not enough. Below is a two day tour that allows you to explore more of Jordan. You can use our online reservation form for to reserve a spot on an upcoming trip.
Be prepared for a fascinating tour!
Because of the heat and short days in the winter, we leave Eilat between 6:30 and 7:00 am. We cross the border at the Rabin Crossing (named after the late Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin) and rive in an air conditioned vehicle to Petra.
At Petra, we start our organized tour and through the Siq (canyon). There is an option of taking horses, but you will probably want to walk and listen to the tour guide explaining the history of Petra. The walk is unlike any place you have ever been and the archaeological sites are amazing! You will stop for a buffet lunch at a Petra restaurant.
Following lunch we commence the walk back to our vehicles at Petra’s entrance. Participants may hire the services of the traditional transport providers (mules, camels and horse-drawn carriages) along the way. Free time will be giving to you in Petra at the afternoon. You may choose the optional climbing to the monastery on top of Jabel (Mt.) Adeir. We check into our three star hotel in the village near Petra. Or you may choose the option of staying in a Bedouin camp where we enjoy our evening meal and settle for the night in a simple Bedouin guest tent. Here we have the opportunity to observe the awe-inspiring desert night-skies and the mysterious and enchanting views of the desert.
Following breakfast, we board 4X4 jeeps, driven by professional Bedouin drivers and journey onto Jordan’s legendary sandstone area of Wadi Rum. The enchanting Wadi Rum is an area almost surreal in its distinctive beauty. We cross red sand dunes and explore the beautifully eroded pillars of sandstone rock, among the natural attractions are what have become known as “The Seven Pillars”. It was this area of Wadi Rum that inspired T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia). Wadi Rum’s beauty remains intact and its breathtaking scenery is still an inspiration for those who travel there.
We visit the famous canyon of ‘Haz Ali and the Hanging Arch. We also drive along the rarely visited but equally stunning trails just beside the Saudi Arabian border. Back to Eilat by evening. Lunch in the desert is included.
